Why You Should Hire a Mathematician is a series of panel & networking events designed to connect mathematicians with people in different industries. For those who did not study mathematics at university, it’s hard to understand how a person with mathematical training can add value to their workforce beyond what’s obvious – sure, they must be good with numbers, but what else they’ve got?
In reality, there are many more ways mathematicians are making unique contributions in their chosen workplace outside of academic research. Their ability to understand complex conceptual ideas. Their creative problem-solving skills. Their incredible attention to details and ability to deliver any technical task with great accuracy. These are some of the unique gifts people with mathematical training can bring to any workplace they join.
In this series of live networking events, we create opportunities for mathematicians who work in the tech industry to share how their mathematical background is being used in their day-to-day work and what unique contribution it’s making to their workforce.
