The Kanata North Business Association took a trip to Toronto this week to visit Queen’s Park and sit down with a group of provincial government ministers to discuss the growth and development of the tech park area.
KNBA president Jamie Petten and board chair Vicki Coughey joined Kanata-Carleton MPP Merrilee Fullerton in the province’s capital for the “Kanata North Day” visit, where they met with Infrastructure Minister Laurie Scott, Finance Minister Rod Phillips, Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney as well as Vic Fedeli, the minister for economic development, job creation and trade. Fullerton has encouraged open communication between the KNBA and provincial ministers in the past, inviting them along with Premier Doug Ford to tour Kanata North and discuss priority issues such as transportation.
“We appreciate the opportunity to brief the ministers on Kanata North’s unique footprint and to discuss necessary investment in infrastructure and development that will ensure the Research and Technology Park will reach its full potential over the next 20 years,” says Petten. “With growth expected to continue at a rapid pace over the next decade, we can expect to see more companies, people, cars and congestion – all driving the need for space, mobility and transportation.”
Profiling and strengthening the Kanata North tech park has been a top priority for Fullerton since she announced her High Tech and Business Initiative in March 2019.
